Actually, it's just a subpart of a bigger workflow. I have a registration workflow, where I need to do several steps, validating the address is only one of them. For the sake of simplicity, I didn't want to give the full workflow, and focus on the integration with API GW. I'm writing another blog post with the full workflow, this one is a sort of prequel :)
